RES exam syllabus & format
The Real Estate Salesperson (RES) examination, administered for the Council for Estate Agencies (CEA), has two papers. Here's exactly what each covers — and how our 2012+ practice questions map to it.
Exam format
Paper 1
- Section A — 60 multiple-choice questions (60 marks)
- Section B — 20 case-study multiple-choice questions (40 marks)
- Duration — 2 hours 30 minutes
- Pass mark — 60% in each paper
Paper 2
- Section A — 60 multiple-choice questions (60 marks)
- Section B — 20 case-study multiple-choice questions (40 marks)
- Duration — 2 hours 30 minutes
- Pass mark — 60% in each paper
Candidates must complete the compulsory RES course with a CEA-approved course provider before sitting the exam, and pass both papers. Check the CEA / examination body for current exam dates, fees and registration details.
